Not got a clue what you mean! if you are refering to how the syringe drivers work the small portable ones are just a box that the syringe clamps to and a servo moves the plunger a small amount at the set intervales. They are normally designed to function over 24 hours so you just fill the syringe once a day and let it do the rest.

Been mulling this over in my head all night and being me I need every last detail planned before I can make my mind up about doing this to the Chromis.

To build the rock support as Malc described I'd need the following parts:
  • 20mm sheet of acrylic roughly 300mm by 400mm drilled and tapped to take 50mm tank connector and with 2 curved cutouts at the back to fit around the existing tank connectors.
  • 2x 5mm acrylic sheet, one 250mm by 70mm, one 300mm by 70mm, both with a 90 degree fold at one end and a 52mm hole cut in the other.
  • a fair amount of acrylic rod ideally upto 10mm diameter.
  • a length of 50mm pipe with lots of holes cut in it.
  • a 50mm tank connector (to have the thread cut down).
The last 2 are no problem to get but I have no idea where to get the acrylic let alone how to get it tapped to take a tank connector. Any ideas?

I'm thinking if I rough up the surface of the rods and drill the holes in the rock slightly too big then a blob of milliput on the end of the rod before its slid in should go off and prevent the rocks ever sliding off too. The fun part will be getting all the rocks on the rods and also sitting snug against each other.

I'll send you a drawing I've done and see what you think. Not made my mind up on this propperly yet but I've very very tempted. Need to work out what its all going to cost me and whether I can get the fish I want for it.

Lot of thought went into this and hard work stunning idea. Not too keen on the low tank though myself but think that is being a bit picky :hehe:

I quite like that .. i'd take the purple tang out though as it spoils the aesthetic of a small fish reef.

Doesn't do it for me that! Think its because its all out of proportion. Its trying to look like a little island in which case those chromis would be the size of whale sharks.

The design came about as he has 2 crabs that spend time out on the rocks  There are a couple of "big" fish in there too so there are quite a few things that make it look strange and out of proportion. I agree Al he should have stuck with the smaller fish. But its a great talking point I think :tu:
