Thanks dave

I am keeping this tank a little "dirty" to help the filter feeders along and it seems to be working.
Once i upgrade i will massivly overskim and drip feed 24/7 phyto and possibly rotties too as i really love the non-photo corals

Morning all...................OH.........well afternoon then lol

Had a wee bit of a ly in after the weekends exertions and didn't surface till gone 10..............YAWN

When i did i had a quick look at the tank on the way to the little boys room  and all seemed well :eheheh:

Anyway, whilst standing there doing my business my my thoughts turned to "the tank looked a bit full though" really must get on with the upgrade :chin:

So

When finished i came and had a good look and got to do a bit of counting

44 !! corals :suprised: :freak:

So do you think i am a tad overstocked  or just a madman

Answers on a postcard to....................................

Not even considering checking the alk/mg/ca levels yet  :loopy:

That's 44 corals in 70 litres (1.6 per litre) I'd be checking my levels pretty carefully if I was you Malc

You're probably a madman, but I reckon we need to see a full tank shot to tell properly :rules:

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Yep i think madman describes me pretty closely :loopy:

I will be spending most of the day re-arranging things to try and squeeze some space from somewhere and will post some pics later on when the dust has settled.

The levels are not too bad now i have a handle on them but then again with the new boys going in there it will probably take a week to get a tag on the new usage but i will get there

New tank time very very soon now, Has to be just for the space !!

Evening all

Welcome to Malc's CrAzY reef update :loopy:

Well as you all know by now i was part of the northern raiding crew for this weekend and as you all will aslo know i just cannot resist buying things

So after a little puffer train ride up and down the country by some virgin that said she was my friend :icon_gen158.gif: i finally ended up home with a box of goodies

I must say that the meet and raid was a real pleasure, HOWEVER.......................

Getting the fishie livestock to play nicely together has not been and subsequently resulted in an emergency strip down around 3 this afternoon.

I had bought myself a lovely tailspot blennie...........aclimatised him last night..................let him free only for Freddie the hawk to instantly take a dislike to him and chase him round and round the tank...........................................ARGhhhhhhhhhhhhh, so net out and rescued the poor little fella and popped him in the fuge to recover, he has and seems okay :tu:

Next for the release last night came the pair of peacock leopard wrasse...............now these being bigger i thought they would be okay, maybe a little argie bargie but could stand it, so, net at the ready they were released......................Freddie had a good look...............swam alongside looking and then just got on with his business   PHEW thats okay then, I continued to watch till lights out (only 5 min) and all was well....................Great i thought so i plonked the corals and went to bed, it by now being 2am.

Wakes up this morning............well near on this afternoon  to find all is still well in the tank but then of course the wrasses are happily tucked up in their sandy beds too.
Come about 2:45 and a wrasse gets up, Lazy sod i thought, Only to be uncerimoniously greeted by (until last night, the previously relatively placid) freddie the hawk bearing down on the poor thing and giving it all he had, well i can tell you this, it takes hours and hours to get the scaping just so with everything looking good, i stripped mine in 45 seconds flat, straight out onto the carpet, corals and all !!
Netted the hawk but having done this i suddenly realised that i had nowhere to put it, It couldn't go in the fuge, the blenny was recovering in there...........it couldn't stay in the tank unless i wanted two dead wrasse, then, while it was flipping about in the net just at the water's surface i realised something........................... My lovely goby was missing...........the two baby bangaii's were too :freak:
10 seconds later he was gone, Now it is not a nice thing to admit and i know that it was not his fault as he was just doing what he is built to do and that it really is on my shoulders not to have listened, In my defense though i have had quite a few falco's both that i have kept and sold through the shop and they were all pretty good towards fish, Shrimp, yeah, they do have issue's with them but not fish !
Anyway the deed is done, i am sorry and gutted that i had to do it, it was fast, not going in to details but the fishermen among you will know the way.

Anyway.............Sadly, onward, The wrasse are okay......just, badly ripped fins with one having a small bite mark on it's side but okay and feeding, all be it very warily!
I am so sad for the poor bangaii's and goby who i condemned by my pig headedness and for freddie who did nothing wrong as he saw it

At this point i was going to post pics but please excuse me
